Think About It.....

I am absolutely disgusted with the current state of mankind. We put a man on the moon nearly fifty years ago and we still can’t get over basic land disputes. Men are killed every day because of aristocrats with a thirst for more power and money. What the future holds is up to the current generation, and it doesn’t look good.
There is no hope for the common man – a large portion of humanity is destined to be grunts, forever sent to complete the smallest of jobs. “No, it’s different in our great democracy,” you argue, but it is not. Look around and you will see the corporate machine, always influencing the consumer with cheesy gimmicks only to hand them an awful product and yet they come back for more. Media is rarely fair and balanced. Major news networks sell themselves to the wealthiest candidate, ready to throw all their resources behind one cause or person. The common mind is too gullible, too easy to control. Tell them a lie and they will believe – only because they want to believe. Religion serves as mind control for the masses. Be it crusade, jihad, or inquisition, an army will assemble if you call it the will of god. Speeches and commercials are dumbed-down so even the dullest can be swayed. Millions are spent on political campaigns even though voter turnout is decreasing. Apathy is hip, cool, good to go – today’s youth would rather do barely enough to get by than becoming the best in their field.
Intelligence, passion, and commitment can only be found in the few at the top of their class. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – the future lies in the hands of the few who rise to control it. But even potential is not enough for most, as society twists and torments them into the mold of stupidity.
How do we fix this? I have no fucking idea…
Why the long speech, criticizing the essence of civilization as we know it? Because I’m pissed, that’s why.

I’ll have another post this weekend about the current situation in the middle east, and more posts after that featuring Iran, violent video games, and a philosophical moment not dissimilar from today’s.
